A Litte about Our Pastoral Charge
The Roslin-Thomasburg Pastoral Charge was formed in June of 1973 under the leadership of Rev. James Stewart. Preceding that both Trinity United and Thomasburg United had experienced several pastoral charge formations and amalgamations.
As a pastoral charge, we share ministers, have a Joint Official Board and Joint Session and share financial responsibilities on a pro-rated basis. Each congregation has seperate Trustees and Board of Stewards. For some matters, these separate governing groups come together to make decisions as well.
Although both congregations consider themselves to be small rural churches, hold common values and work together quite well, each of our congregations has a very different personality. The upside to this is that should you pay one of our congregations a visit and you find it just doesn’t “feel” right, you can visit the other for a very different experience.
We are in transition. We have been looking at where we have come from, who and where we are right now and what our future might look like as God leads us along. Our hope is to be more intentional, more focused and better organized so that we can serve God the best we can and be better prepared for whatever future God brings our way.
If you live in the area and are thinking about coming back to your roots or checking out church for the first time, we may be just the opportunity you are looking for. Please feel free to drop in either of our member congregations any Sunday or contact us through our Contact page.
